Yala peak lies just to the north of Kathmandu in the Langtang region at a height of 5500 meters in a beautiful valley of rich grazing pastures and ethnic Tamang people. You can see amazing view of Shishapangma (8,046 m) and Gangchempo (6,388 m) from the summit of Yela. Usually climbed in 2 days from Kyanjin Gompa (3900m), camping at Yala Kharka (4600m). It's also possible to do it in one day, without camping, but it's a long day with a pre-dawn start. The view from top includes Shishapangma, the only eight-thousand completely in Tibet.

Yala Peak is one of Nepal’s easier trekking peaks a fantastic beginner mountaineering trip. We explore the Langshisa glacier to help us acclimatize, and then set up a high camp at 4800 meters from where we make our summit bid. After an alpine start under stars we are on the summit by late morning, with dazzling views into Tibet and across to Shisapangma, the only 8000 meters peak situated wholly in Tibet; overall the trip of a moderate grade with only two days of mountaineering.

Starting from Syabrubesi after a 7/8 hour drive from Kathmandu, we spend three  days hiking up the beautiful Langtang valley to Kyanjin Gompa at 3800 meters. Kyanjin Gompa is situated below Langtang Lirung (7,246m) and we spend three days acclimatizing taking day-hikes in spectacular surroundings. The last 4000 m is on ice so we will be using crampons, ice axe and rope. After the climb we return to Syabrubesi and drive back to Kathmandu.
